Year in Review: January 2009

Goodbye 2009!

We have been very, very fortunate to be able to travel so much this year to see friends and family. We feel like it is especially important now because from month to month Ian changes so very much. I've decided to try to do a year in review highlighting where we were and what Ian was up to. I owe this organizational scheme to my sister in law, Louise, for getting me to sit down and look over pictures from this year to include in a calendar for the Howard Grandparents. Bear with me, I recognize that much of this minutiae is fascinating only to us...

We began 2009 at home in Albany after spending Christmas with the Howards in Minneapolis. It was so wonderful to have the cousins together (although Brycie was still just a Subber in Weezie's belly).

Here is Ian on New Year's Eve:

We spent New Year's Day with our friends: sisters Danae and Alexia Schulz, Alexia's son Jack, and their mom, Maria. Here are Jack and Ian on Jan 1, 2009:

It is unfortunate that Ian is even slightly closer to the camera because he is just such a beast compared to Jack! This year we got together a week earlier (on Dec 26). Look at how different the boys are now!
Engrossed in their electronics:
Back to January 2009, our first trip of the new year was to DC to visit the Muirheads. Ian was almost 6 months old. He was proudly sitting up. Yes, this was back in the days when I was still actually blogging occasionally so not very far down this page after this post you can see pictures that my friend Yael, from Boston, took when she came to see us at my parents' house. Look how short he was back then!

We also were able to be there for sister-in-law Lindsay's baby shower. She was gorgeous and her belly was huge! As with all of my trips to VA, I also had the chance to see my bestest high school friends, David and Greer. This is why it is so wonderful to visit the DC area, I have my parents, my brother and his family, and two of my dearest friends all in one place.
